
Softball Back at Devine Diamond for MAC Series vs. Bowling Green

The Kent State softball team returns to action at Devine Diamond this weekend, hosting Bowling Green for a Mid-American Conference series. A doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday, while the finale will be played on Sunday at noon.
About the Golden Flashes
Kent State (20-18, 6-10 MAC) sits eighth in the conference standings after splitting a doubleheader at Buffalo on Tuesday.
The Golden Flashes are hitting .300 for the first time since 2018 and rank third in the MAC in batting average (.300) and scoring (4.79 runs per game).
Graduate student Julia Mazanec leads the way at the plate and holds top-10 rankings in the conference in batting average (.367), slugging percentage (.600) and runs scored (30). Mazanec recorded Kent State's second multi-homer performance of the season in the series opener against Western Michigan this past Saturday.
Junior Savannah Wing is having a breakout season and is chasing the program's single-season doubles record. Wing has 16 two-baggers, which ranks ninth nationally, while batting .330 with a team-high 29 RBIs.
Senior Emily Lippe has launched a team-high eight home runs and is second on the team with 26 RBIs.
Sophomore Macy Irelan (7-7) leads the pitching staff with a 2.56 ERA that ranks fourth in the MAC while ranking third with 102 strikeouts. Freshman Megan Nuechterlein (13-8) is tied for second in the conference with 13 wins.
Scouting the Opposition
Bowling Green (5-27, 2-14 MAC) has lost five in a row and is 0-12 in true road games. Seven of those losses have been via the run rule.
Aaralyn Nogay leads the Falcons at the plate with a .306 batting average, 16 RBIs and six stolen bases. Reagan Williamson provides power in the lineup with four home runs and a .506 slugging percentage.
The pitching staff has a 6.77 ERA and .339 opponent batting average. Taylor Turner (2-8) leads the way with a 5.61 ERA and 28 strikeouts.
Series History
Kent State is 79-47-1 all-time against Bowling Green. The Golden Flashes enter the series with a four-game winning streak and won 17 straight games from 2012-19.
On Deck
Kent State will play its final road games next week, making the short trip to Cleveland State on April 23 and then heading to first-place Miami for three games on April 26-27.
