Flashes Drop 20 Piece on Eagles

KENT- Every Flash that stepped to the plate reached base and Kent State scored 20 or more runs for the third time this season in a 20-7 win over Eastern Michigan on Friday afternoon.
Kyle Jackson drove in five, highlighted by a three-run homer and Josh Johnson went three-for-three with four driven in as Kent State scored multiple runs in five different innings on Friday. The hit parade started in the first as Kent State struck for four runs on four singles and taking advantage of an error to lead off the inning. The Flashes would score the first 11 runs in the series opener as Johnson homered, Dom Kibler drove in runs with a single and two scored on a Eastern Michigan throwing error.
The Eagles would score the next five plating three in the fifth off starter Calvin Bickerstaff. The righty got the win after going the first five innings, allowing those three runs on six hits (five coming in the fifth) while striking out four. The Flashes would break it open a second time on a two-run Kyle Jackson homer and a two-out double from Jake Casey as part of a three-run seventh. The Flashes poured it on in the eighth adding six more highlighted by Lance MacDonald's three-run homer, his second dinger of the season.
Bickerstaff picked up his third win of the season as Kent State moves to 13-14 on the year and 6-4 in MAC play. The Eagles drop to 11-17 overall and also sit 6-4 in conference. The two teams will square off for the second game of the three-game series on Saturday with a 3 p.m. scheduled first pitch.
