Cariaco Earns Conference Pitcher of the Week Honors

KENT- Kent State lefthanded pitcher Peyton Cariaco has earned Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for his efforts out of the bullpen in the Flashes' sweep of the rival Zips.
Cariaco recorded a trio of saves over the weekend, shutting down the Zips' offense. After hitting the first batter he faced, the lefty retired the next nine batters he faced. He closed out both games of the double header on Friday, capping the game one comeback by striking out the side after the hit batsman.
In game two, he came into the game in the eighth, picked off a runner and closed the eighth with a strike out before working a clean ninth. In the finale, Cariaco inherited the bases loaded and promptly got the final out of the game to clinch the sweep.
The Flashes wrap the regular season this weekend at home versus Ball State. The series shifts up a day and will begin on Thursday night, first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
