Guns Wins MAC Specialist of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday that Kent State senior Alyssa Guns has won the MAC specialist of the week award. Guns earns the honor for her performance during the Flashes' season-opening tri-meet win over Fisk and Wilberforce.
Guns was key to a strong third and fourth rotation, leading the Flashes to victory. In the third rotation on beam, she posted a score of 9.850, the joint-highest score across all events for Kent State. After winning the event on beam, Guns earned a 9.825 on the floor during Kent State's final rotation of the night. The second-best score for the Flashes in the event was also good enough for an overall runner-up finish on the floor to conclude the night.
After claiming the award for the first time this season, Guns has now tallied four MAC athlete of the week honors across her four-year career.
Guns and the Flashes return to action on Thursday night as they travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, to take on the Mountaineers. The meet is set to begin at 7 p.m. EST.
