Schultz Named MAC Specialist of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday that a Golden Flash has claimed the conference's Specialist of the Week award for the second week in a row. Heidi Schultz earned the honor for her performance on bars and beam in Kent State's road victory at West Virginia.
In the Flashes' opening rotation on bars, Schultz earned a score of 9.800, finishing tied for third in the event with the joint-highest Kent State score. Schultz then put together a phenomenal routine in Kent State's final rotation to secure the win for the Flashes. The junior recorded a score of 9.850 to win the event, the joint-highest score across all events in the meet.
Schultz's honor marks the second consecutive week a member of the Flashes' team has been named MAC Specialist of the Week. Senior Alyssa Guns earned last week's award for her performance on beam and floor in the season-opening tri-meet win over Fisk and Wilberforce.
Kent State returns to action on Sunday, January 26, as they open MAC competition at Eastern Michigan. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
