Flashes Set to Open MAC Competition at Eastern Michigan

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State gymnastics team is set for their first conference meet of the season, as conference competition begins at Eastern Michigan. The Flashes will look to build on a 3-0 start in their second road meet in as many weeks.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
Kent State improved to 3-0 on the young season last week with a dual-meet victory at West Virginia. The Flashes earned an all-around team score of 93.775, matching the score from their season-opening tri-meet win to best the Mountaineers' 192.325 and fly the flag. Kent State was led by an impressive performance from Heidi Schultz, who earned MAC Specialist of the Week honors for her efforts on bars and beam. In the Flashes' opening rotation on bars, Schultz earned a score of 9.800, finishing tied for third in the event with the joint-highest Kent State score. Schultz then put together a phenomenal routine in Kent State's final rotation to secure the win for the Flashes. The junior recorded a score of 9.850 to win the event, the joint-highest score across all events in the meet. Another impressive all-around performance came from Nene Alvine, who won the event on vault and floor with a pair of 9.850 scores en route to winning the all-around title in the meet.
SCOUTING EASTERN MICHIGAN
The Eagles are 4-0 on the young season. Eastern Michigan began the year with a decisive 194.925-193.100 dual-meet victory over Bowling Green to begin the season and MAC competition 1-0. The Eagles improved to 4-0 with a quad-meet victory over MAC preseason favorites Ball State, Northern Illinois, and Winona State, earning an all-around team score of 195.125. Senior Raisa Boris earned MAC Gymnast of the Week honors for her effort in the quad meet, posting an all-around score of 39.125.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flashes lead the all-time series against Eastern Michigan 58-29. Kent State has won four consecutive meets against the Eagles, including last season at the MAC Center when the Flashes earned the program's second-highest all-around team score in program history with a 197.200.

MAC competition rolls on for Kent State as the Flashes return home to the MAC Center on Sunday, February 2, to host Western Michigan at 1 p.m.
