Kent State Prepares to Battle Buffalo on National Television

BUFFALO – Kent State Men's Basketball continues their early Mid-American Conference slate on Friday, Jan. 10 on the road against the University at Buffalo. Tipoff between the Golden Flashes (10-4) and Bulls (5-9) is set for 6:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
Last Time Out
Most recently the blue and gold posted a decisive victory over Northern Illinois University on Jan. 7 besting the Huskies by a final score of 68-50. VonCameron Davis' 31 points were a Kent State career high for the redshirt senior forward. Additionally, with 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals, he tallied his fourth career double-double. Fellow senior Cli'Ron Hornbeak grabbed his third career double-double scoring 10 points and hauling in 11 rebounds with three blocks. Marquis Barnett was the third Flash to reach double-digit rebounds with 10. Scoring seven points in the game, Barnett is just three points shy of 1,000 on his college career. Jalen Sullinger also tallied another high scoring game dropping 10 points. Cian Medley led KSU in assists with five.
Scouting the Bulls
Historically, this will be meeting number 60 between the Kent State Golden Flashes and the Buffalo Bulls. Kent State leads the series all-time with a record 38-21 against UB, and is looking to make it six straight wins over the Bulls having won the last five meetings. Most recently the Flashes bested the Bulls 76-64 on Feb. 27, 2024. Buffalo's Head Coach George Halcovage III is in his second year at Buffalo following 15 years as a part of the Villanova program, where he served as Associate Head Coach at the time he departed. A year ago, Buffalo posted a record of 4-27 and did not qualify for the Mid-American Conference Championship tournament.

Friday's game is the first Kent State game that was selected as a flexed game for national TV and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. The radio broadcast can be heard on the Kent State Radio Network with Rob Polinsky on the call.
Next Up for Kent State
Kent State will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at home against the Broncos of Western Michigan University. Tipoff in the M.A.C. Center is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
