
Kent State Soccer Finishes Regular Season With Key Trip To Miami

Miami, Ohio- The Kent State Soccer team will wrap-up regular season play on the road Wednesday against the Miami University Red Hawks. The outcome could be pivotal in terms of seeding as the Red Hawks currently hold the three-seed while the Golden Flashes currently sit in fourth before the start of the Mid-American Conference Soccer Tournament on Saturday.
Last Time Out
The Kent State Soccer team punched their ticket to the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Columbus on Thursday night with a 1-0 win at home over the Toledo Rockets.
Junior forward Josie Morgan was fouled in the box and capitalized on a penalty shot in the 32nd-minute to score her third goal in the last five games. That score was all the Golden Flashes needed, as they held on defense for the majority of the game to come away with the 1-0 victory.
KSU outshot the Rockets by a count of 12-8 while also having the edge in the shots-on-goal category by a count of 8-3. The Blue and Gold also accumulated six corner kicks compared to three from Toledo. Junior goalkeeper finished with three saves in the win for the Flashes.
Scouting Miami
Toledo has produced a record of 10-5-2 so far this season with a conference record of 7-2-2, which is currently good for third place in the conference. The Red Hawks are also currently riding an eight-game unbeaten streak.
Junior forward Katie O'malley leads the team in points this season with 16 coming off of six goals and four assists as junior midfielder Kayla Perfect is right behind her with 14 points off of four goals and six assists.
Fellow Junior midfielder Morhea Hoeffen has contributed three goals and three assists this season and sophomore forward Millie Cook has contributed three goals and two assists. The Red Hawks defense has allowed just 15 goals this season and junior goalkeeper Dominique Popa has 39 saves in net so far this season.
Series History
Sunday's contest will be the 32nd all-time meeting between the Red Hawks and the Golden Flashes as Miami holds the series lead by a count of 16-11-4. However, the Blue and Gold most recently took down Miami a year ago in Kent by a score of 2-1 in the conference quarterfinals.

The Flashes will begin MAC Tournament play on Saturday at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Time and opponent are To Be Determined, but will be announced Wednesday evening.
