
Golden Flashes Compete at Joe Piane Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The men's and women's Kent State cross country teams competed in the Gold Division races at the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday.
Freshman Michael Hanselman was the Golden Flashes' best finisher on the day. Hanselman was the fifth freshman runner across the finish line in the men's 8K and placed 26th overall with a time of 25:00.6. Graduate student Carter Almady also finished in under 26 minutes and took 79 place in 25:53.7.
Led by junior Ella McCollom, Kent State had four runners with times under 19 minutes in the women's 5K. McCollom recorded a time of 18:29.0 for 32nd place. Sophomore Nora Salem (18:42.8) and graduate student Grace Smith (18:29.0) finished back-to-back in 60th and 61st, respectively. Sophomore Emerson Greene trimmed just over a minute off her time from last week's race at Youngstown State and completed the course in 18:59.9 for 80th place.
Kent State will close regular season competition on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green.
