
Schaffer and Miller Come Away With Wins; Kent State Falls To UVA In Duals

Lakewood, Ohio– The Kent State Wrestling team ran into tough competition in their second Dual Meet of the season at St. Edward High School against the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday. The Blue and Gold were able to win two matches, but the Cavaliers took home a 27-6 team victory from Northeast Ohio.
Redshirt junior Carson Miller won the first match of the day for Kent State in the 165-pound class with a low scoring decision. He was able to score a takedown in sudden victory over Virginia's Michael Murphy for a 4-1 win.
Senior Blake Schaffer came away with the other victory on the day for KSU at 197 pounds. He also came away with a late takedown to defeat Max Shulaw(UVA) in a 9-6 decision.
Though the Cavaliers won eight matches, no Golden Flashes were pinned or lost by technical fall. Three of the match wins by UVA were by Major Decision and five were by a Decision.
