Columbus, Ohio- The Kent State Wrestling team will go on the road for more dual meet action after two duals last weekend in Northeast Ohio. They'll head to the state capital to take on the Second-Ranked Ohio State Buckeyes at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Covelli Center.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes wrapped up their first weekend of dual competition with a 1-1 record after beating Mount Union 49-0 on Friday and falling to Virginia on Saturday by a score of 27-6. However, Carson Miller and Blake Schaffer were able to record wins for the Blue and Gold with three-point wins each.
In the Mount Union meet, it didn't take long for the Flashes to get out in front as redshirt junior Nico Callelo(125) pinned his opponent in the first two minutes of the match. Fellow redshirt junior Ethan Barr recorded the other pin of the night for the Blue and Gold early in his match as well.
The team also recorded six Technical Fall wins from Landen Duncan, Nate Roth, Carson Miller, Trent Thomas, Blake Schaffer and Brentan Simmerman. Keegan Knapp won in a Major Decision, while Nick Molchak won in a 9-5 decision.
On Saturday, the Golden Flashes provided many competitive matches aside from the two wins from Miller and Schaffer. Though the Cavaliers won eight matches, no Golden Flashes were pinned or lost by technical fall. Three of the match wins by UVA were by Major Decision and five were by a Decision.
