
Kent State Travels to the Pacific Northwest for First Road Contest Against Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Kent State Men's Basketball (9-1) will seek to extend their winning streak to 10 straight on Sunday, Dec. 14 when they take on the University of Portland in their first true road game of the 2025-2026 season. Tip-off between the Golden Flashes and Pilots is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. eastern time. This marks Kent State's third game against Portland in the last four seasons, and the Blue and Gold's first ever trip to Portland.
Last Time Out
Most recently the Golden Flashes downed Roberts Wesleyan 111-68. 14 Flashes saw the floor as Kent State took and extended a large lead early on and did not look back. KSU led 59-29 at halftime before outscoring the Redhawks 59-39 in the second half to tally their second highest point total of the season thus far. Four Flashes dropped double-digits including Morgan Safford who led the roster (22 points), Delrecco Gillespie (14 points), Magnus Entenmann (10 points), and Quinn Woidke (10 points). Strong performances also included Rayvon Griffith who led the Blue and Gold with eight rebounds while scoring nine points. Deandre Jones, Dezmon Briscoe and Rob Whaley Jr. also tallied nine points each. Brenden Moss made his first appearance for Kent State in two years playing 11 minutes and scoring five. It was the fourth game this season in which Kent State scored over 100 points.
Scouting the Pilots
This will be the third ever meeting between these two programs as Kent State hosted Portland last season on Dec. 6, 2024, winning 76-57, and on Nov. 24, 2022, winning 77-65. The Pilots enter this matchup with an overall record of 6-4 having won two of their last three games. Shantay Legans was hired as the University of Portland men's basketball head coach in March of 2021 after he led Eastern Washington to the 2021 NCAA Tournament. He enters this matchup with overall record of 63-79. Five different Pilots are averaging double-digits including Timo George (13.6), Joel Foxwell (13.2), James O'Donnell (11.9), Mikah Ballew (11.7), and Cameron Williams (11.4).

Next Up for Kent State
Following Portland the Golden Flashes will begin Mid-American Conference play on the road at the University of Massachusetts. It will be UMass' first men's basketball MAC matchup. Tip-off between the Golden Flashes and Minutemen will be on Dec. 20 at 2:00 p.m.
