KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team revealed its 2026 schedule on Wednesday, beginning with the team's annual preseason blue and gold intrasquad meet on December 7. The reigning undefeated MAC Regular Season champions are set to host four competitive meets in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center this season.
Before Winter break and the start of the regular season, fans will get their first opportunity to see the Golden Flashes at the team's blue and gold intrasquad meet, set for a 1 p.m. start on December 7. After returning from the break and opening the Spring semester, the Flashes will host their opening two meets of the season in the M.A.C. Center.
The Kent State squad will begin its MAC title defense in the season opener on Sunday, January 11th, as the Flashes host Northern Illinois for a dual meet in what could be the final meeting between the teams as conference foes. After a meeting with the Huskies, Kent State will host a premier tri-meet in the M.A.C. Center on Sunday, January 18, as the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Fisk Bulldogs come to town, marking the fourth straight season the Golden Flashes have faced West Virginia.
After opening the competitive season with two home meets, Kent State will hit the road with five consecutive road meets across late January and the month of February. The Flashes will open the road stand with a long trip out West, as they head to Air Force on Friday, January 23, to take part in a quad meet featuring the Falcons, Boise State, and Eastern Michigan. Kent State will then return East for another road quad meet, as West Virginia hosts the Flashes, Pitt, and Cornell in Morgantown on Friday, January 30. This meet will mark the third consecutive season Kent State has faced off against Pitt, as the Flashes notched a marquee victory over the Panthers in the M.A.C. Center last season.
The Flashes will kick off the month of February with their second MAC meet of the season, as the squad heads to Muncie, Indiana on Sunday, February 8, to take on Ball State in a tri-meet that will also feature Illinois State. Kent State posted the team's highest score of the season against the Cardinals in 2025, claiming a 196.400-195.875 win in the M.A.C. Center. Conference action will continue later that week as the Flashes head to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, on Friday, February 13, to take on the 2025 MAC Championship winner Central Michigan.
Kent State will close the five-meet road stand with another cross-country road trip, as the Golden Flashes travel to the Lone Star State on Sunday, February 22, to take part in a tri-meet hosted by Texas Women's University alongside national power Oregon State. It will mark the first time Kent State has competed in the state of Texas since participating in a quad meet hosted by TWU in January of 2020. The Flashes will return home to host a meet for the first time in a month and a half on Sunday, March 1, as Bowling Green makes the trek across the Ohio Turnpike for a dual meet in the M.A.C. Center.
The final road dual meet of the season for Kent State will be on Sunday, March 8, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, as the Flashes face Western Michigan in the penultimate MAC meet of 2026. The trip marks the final time Kent State will leave the state of Ohio, barring an NCAA regional appearance at a venue outside of the state. The regular season finale for the Flashes will be on Sunday, March 15, when Eastern Michigan comes to town for the fourth and final meet of 2026 in the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes will seek to close out the season with their first MAC Championship win since 2015 at the 2026 edition of the event, hosted by Bowling Green on Sunday, March 21. Should Kent State qualify, NCAA regionals are slated to take place April 1-5 ahead of NCAA nationals April 14-18 in Fort Worth, Texas.
