
Gymnastics Shows Out at Sunday’s Blue-Gold Meet

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team opened the 2025-26 season on Sunday afternoon with the team's annual Blue and Gold intrasquad exhibition meet. The gold team claimed a narrow victory over the blue squad behind a big day from Charlie Behner.
VAULT
Behner posted the high score on vault with a 9.875, followed by her gold teammate, Ashley Morgan, who posted a 9.825. Allie Call tallied the blue team's highest vault score with a 9.800, tying for third place alongside Avery Compson of the gold team.
BARS
Behner earned the highest score on any event on bars as the senior posted a 9.900 for her second event title of the day. Fellow gold team member Dani Fuertez scored a 9.800 on bars for second place, edging out Nastia Rudnitskaya and Lana Mast, who each finished tied for third at 9.775.
BEAM
Heidi Schultz demonstrated why she was the 2025 MAC champion on beam, opening her senior season with a 9.850 for the blue squad to secure the event win. Fuertez finished just behind Schultz with a 9.825 for the gold team, while Anika Most claimed third place on beam for gold with a 9.775.
FLOOR
Behner claimed her third event title of the afternoon on floor, dazzling with a 9.850 to lead all Golden Flashes. Ashley Morgan padded the gold team's lead with a 9.800 on floor to close the event in second place. Emma Masse completed a gold sweep of the podium on floor with a 9.775 to finish in third.
ALL-AROUND
Making her unofficial Kent State debut, Mast posted the highest all-around score of the day at 38.475 to finish ahead of two other gymnasts who competed all-around.
UP NEXT
The Golden Flashes open the competitive season after the new year as they welcome Northern Illinois to the M.A.C. Center for the team's season opener on Sunday, January 11, at 1 p.m.
