
Flashes Suffer First Blemish to Perfect Record at Rutgers Tri-Meet

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Kent State gymnastics team took a brief pause from MAC competition on Saturday, hitting the road for a tri-meet against a pair of Big Ten opponents in Rutgers and no. 16 Michigan. The Flashes recorded an all-around team score of 194.500 to finish third of the three teams competing, behind a 196.900 by Michigan and a 195.350 by Rutgers.
Nene Alvine was a big highlight for the Flashes, winning the all-around title in the meet with a 38.925, including scores of 9.850 or better on the floor and vault.
ROTATION 1 – BEAM
The Flashes were led in the opening rotation by Heidi Schultz, who earned a 9.825 from the anchor spot in the lineup. Alvine and Ashley Morgan each earned the joint-second highest scores for Kent State, recording a pair of 9.750s. Gabby Riley followed closely behind with a 9.700.
ROTATION 2 – FLOOR
Alvine continued what was an impressive all-around day on the floor, earning a 9.875 to finish third in the event, narrowly behind a pair of 9.900s from Michigan. Emma Masse, Jersey Bingman, and Charlie Behner each earned a score of 9.750 for the joint second-highest scores in the event for Kent State.
ROTATION 3 – VAULT
The third rotation of the night saw another top three event finish for Alvine, who claimed third in the event with a 9.850. Mya Migliore earned a 9.800 for the Flashes' second-best score in the event.
ROTATION 4 – BARS
Kent State's final rotation on bars was highlighted by a new season-high for Brynne Tsipis, who tallied a 9.800 leading off the Flashes' lineup. Behner and Nastia Rudnitskaya notched the second-best scores for Kent State in the event with a pair of 9.725s.
