
Gymnastics Flies the Flag, Downs Pitt in M.A.C. Center

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team flew the flag on Friday night with a dual-meet win over ACC opponent Pitt. The Flashes outscored the Panthers 195.925-195.650 to improve to 8-2 on the season.
Kent State's 195.925 team score was their highest of the 2025 season thus far, eclipsing the 195.425 mark set at Eastern Michigan in January. Nene Alvine was the lone all-around participant in the meet, recording a season high 39.325 across four events.
ROTATION 1 – VAULT
The Flashes started the night by posting the top two individual scores on vault. Alvine and Charlie Behner finished tied for first in the event after each posting a 9.800. Ashley Morgan was not far behind for Kent State, tying for third with a 9.775.
ROTATION 2 – BARS
Kent State put in their best effort on bars thus far in 2025 on Friday night, eclipsing the 49.000 mark for the first time this season with a team score of 49.125. Brynne Tsipis tied for first in the event by setting a new-season high with a 9.875 to lead off the Flashes' lineup. Charlie Behner followed closely with a 9.850 while Nastia Rudnitskaya also recorded a 9.825.
ROTATION 3 – BEAM
Alvine continued an impressive all-around day on the beam, where she led the Flashes with a 9.850 to tie for second in the event. Gabby Riley posted Kent State's second-best score with a 9.775 while Alyssa Guns and Heidi Schultz earned a pair of 9.750s.
ROTATION 4 – FLOOR
The Flashes posted their highest score in any event this season to close out the victory over the Panthers on the floor with a team score of 49.150. Guns posted the top score in the event with a 9.900, her fourth score of 9.900 or better on the floor this season. Alvine matched her career-high on the floor, earning a 9.875 for the fourth meet in a row to finish second among all competitors on Friday. Riley rounded out the top three in the event with a 9.825 for the Flashes.
