Flashes Improve in Second Round of Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Kent State women's golf team continued the opening tournament of their Spring season on Tuesday with the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic. The Flashes recorded an 8-over-par 296 to sit at 25-over-par and in 16th place of the 18 teams competing.
After leading the Flashes in yesterday's first round, Gracie Larsen continued an impressive start to her inaugural Spring collegiate season. The freshman from Australia recorded an even-par 72 in round two to sit at 1-over-par after 36 holes and tied for 24th place among the field of 100 players, the highest among the Flashes.
Another improved second-round performance came from Veronika Kedronova, who recorded a 1-over-par 73 after a 4-over-par 76 in yesterday's first round to sit at 5-over-par after 36 holes. The sophomore is second among Kent State golfers, tied for 56th place with one round remaining.
Leon Takagi notched a 2-over-par 74 in round two to improve upon a 5-over-par 77 and sit at 7-over-par after round two. The junior is tied for 72nd place at 7-over-par entering Wednesday's final round. The final score countable toward the team total in round two was a 5-over-par 77, tallied by both Jennifer Gu and Isabella Goyette, who are in 90th place and tied for 96th respectively entering round three.
The Flashes will look to climb the leaderboard ahead of the conclusion of the Puerto Rico Classic with round three's shotgun start set for 6:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday.
