
Softball to Host Miami for Opening MAC Series at Devine Diamond

Kent State begins Mid-American Conference play with a three-game home series against Miami. This also marks the opening weekend at Devine Diamond, where the Golden Flashes are scheduled to play 15 games this season. A doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. on Friday, with the series finale will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Admission to all games at Devine Diamondย is free. Fans who are unable to make it to the field, live stats and video streams on BoxCast will be available for all games.
About the Flashes
Kent State (7-16) have won four straight against opponents from non-power conferences and most recently beat Oakland and Merrimack this past weekend at the Ohio State Tournament.
Senior Delaney Robeson has a MAC-best 31 hits and is also among the conference leaders in batting average (.425), on-base percentage (.468), slugging percentage (.630), doubles (6) and RBIs (24).
Senior Katie Jo Moery has also been a productive bat in the middle of the lineup and has nine extra-base hits to share the team lead with Robeson. Moery ranks in the top-10 in the MAC with 17 RBIs.
Freshman Ella Johnson (3-4) leads the pitching staff with 21 appearances and is ranks third in the MAC with 35 strikeouts.
Scouting the Opposition
Miami (9-14) begins the quest for a sixth consecutive MAC regular season. After a difficult start to the season, the RedHawks have won four of the last five games. The lineup once again features plenty of powerful bats, and Miami leads the conference in home runs (30) and slugging percentage (.502).
All-American Jenna Golembiewski leads the way with eight home runs, 20 RBIs and a .703 slugging percentage. Shelby Kunkel is having a breakout season and is hitting .405 with five home runs and 18 RBIs. Chloe Parks is tied for the MAC lead with seven doubles and has driven in 16 runs.
Madilyn Reeves (6-6) is the MAC leader in strikeouts (71) and innings pitched (80.2) and has a 4.51 ERA to lead the pitching staff.
Series History
Kent State is 55-72 all-time against Miami. The RedHawks recorded a three-game sweep last season in Oxford and have won 14 of the last 15 meetings to go ahead in the all-time series.
On Deck
Kent State will travel to Bowling Green for the second weekend of MAC play for a three-game series on March 21-22.
