
Pair of Relay Teams Highlight Flashes’ Final Day at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – Kent State had two relay teams record program all-time top-10 times on Saturday as competition at the Duke Invitational concluded.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Sean Callahan Jr., Ryan Gruss, Dejon Manning and Jaheim Jones was victorious in a time of 39.83 seconds that is the fourth fastest in Golden Flashes history.
In the women's 4x400-meter relay, Amryne Chilton, Ella Baker, Marinna Atanmo and Jericha Petrella took fourth in 3:41.25. That time is good for 10th in school history.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Fabio Justo, Jones, Connor Boland and Owen Miller won its heat and finished fifth overall in 3:13.82.
Individually, Kent State had four top-10 finishes in running events on Saturday. Jones placed second in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.50 seconds. Zamen Siyoum followed a new personal-best during qualifying on Friday with a time of 14.21 seconds for fourth in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Callahan Jr. clocked a time of 21.22 seconds for fifth in the men's 200-meter dash, and Chilton ran 24.03 seconds for ninth in the women's 200m.
Keeli Dunaway led the Flashes in field events with a second-place finish in the women's triple jump. Dunaway soared 40'-11" on her third attempt of the competition.
Kristen Jay and Kyla Taress posted 10th place finishes in their respective events. Jay had a top throw of 142'-7" in the women's javelin and Taress cleared 12'-1.5" in the women's pole vault.
The Flashes will travel to the 55th Sparky Adams Invitational at Baldwin Wallace University for action on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19.
