
Four Flashes Finish Top 15 at Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Kent State women's golf team wrapped up their final tournament ahead of the MAC Championship on Sunday with the third round of the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational at OSU Golf Club. The Flashes posted their best round of the weekend with a 1-over-par 289 to finish in third place at 16-over-par behind four top-15 individual finishers.
Tournament host no. 17 Ohio State used a strong 7-under-par third round to win the Buckeye Invitational, while no. 25 Michigan State was the only other team to finish ahead of Kent State at 13-over-par after posting a round of 3-under-par on Sunday.
Veronika Kedronova led the Flashes with a runner-up finish at 5-under-par after posting a 2-under-par 70 in round three. It marks the sophomore's fourth top-five and seventh top-ten finish of the 2024-2025 season, while improving her tally of rounds of par or better to a team-high 13. Kedronova finished as one of just four players to record 54-hole scores under par, three strokes behind the tournament champion.
Freshman Gracie Larsen was the other Kent State golfer to tally a round under par on Sunday with a 1-under-par 71. Larsen improved throughout the weekend to clinch a tie for 14th place on the individual standings among the field of 69, her second-best finish of the season. She recorded three birdies to just two bogeys in an impressive third round.
Despite posting a 7-over-par 79 in round three, Leon Takagi earned her best finish of the season at the Buckeye Invitational. The 2024 individual MAC champion ended the event tied for 7th place at 4-over-par, surpassing her previous season-best tied 17th finish at the Florida State Match Up.
Aryn Matthews rounded up an impressive weekend of counting scores for the Flashes on Sunday with a 1-over-par 73. The freshman concludes the Buckeye Invitational with a 10-over-par 54-hole score, good enough to tie for 12th on the final individual standings. Matthews also earns her second-best finish of the season after posting four birdies in Sunday's final round.
Isabella Goyette posted Kent State's final counting score toward the team total in round three with a 3-over-par 75, her best round of the event. The freshman finishes the tournament at 22-over-par, climbing 11 spots up the standings in round three to tie for 45th.
With the team's final tune-up in the books, the Flashes will next return to action at the MAC Championship, set to begin on Sunday, April 20, at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana.
