
Williams Named to Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List

KENT- Kent State's Brody Williams was named to the midseason watch list for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year award.
Williams has been amazing for the Golden Flashes behind the dish in 2025. The backstop is hitting .342 across 33 games this season with 41 hits and 37 runs scored, while catching 10 base stealers from behind the plate.
The Eddyville Ky. Native was named the 32nd best catcher in the country in D1Baseball's week six position rankings.
Williams is one of 56 collegiate backstops from around the country to be selected to the midseason watch list. The Buster Posey Award was previously known as the Johnny Bench Award and annually recognizes the top catcher in Division I baseball.
The Junior is looking to become the first Golden Flash to win the Buster Posey/Johnny Bench National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award winner in program history.
Semifinalists for the Buster Posey Award will be selected on May 19, finalists named on June 5 and the winner announced at a ceremony in Wichita, Kansas on June 26.
