Flashes Walk Off Broncos to Secure Senior Weekend Sweep

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team closed out the home portion of their Mid-American Conference Schedule with a 10-9 walk off win over the Western Michigan Broncos in ten innings.
The Flashes and the Broncos exchanged single tallies in the first with Western Michigan getting a homer in the top of the inning and Kent state responded with an RBI fielder's choice in the bottom half.
Western Michigan scored again in the top of the third on an RBI single. But Jake Casey would respond in the bottom half of the inning with a solo shot over the wall in right.
The Bronocs would hang the first crooked number of the day when they score three in the top of the fourth.
Kent State got two back in the fifth thanks to a Luke Matthews RBI double and a Hayden Jatczak sacrifice fly. But the Broncos would get those two runs back in the top of the sixth inning.
The Flashes took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth when they struck for five runs. Brody Williams would start the inning by scoring on an error by the Western Michigan shortstop. Kent state would tie the game on a pair of RBI singles by Landon Tiesing and Matthews. Jatczak would give Kent state their first lead of the game on a sacrifice fly to left. Casey would double the lead on an RBI double that was roped up the right field line.
Western Michigan scored two in the top of the ninth to tie the game up at nine runs apiece.
Peyton Cariaco would put down the Broncos down for just the second time today in the top in the tenth. Dom Kibler stepped up in the bottom of the tenth and sent a pinch hit walk off home run deep over the wall in right.
On Deck for the Flashes
Kent state will close out the home portion of their schedule with a non-conference midweek matchup with the 2025 regular season Horizon League champions, the Wright State Raiders
