KENT, Ohio –– Kent State Athletics earned honorable mention honors for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) 2025 Unity Award.
Kent State was recognized for its annual International Night, which takes place during a men's basketball game. The event is highlighted by a halftime parade of flags in recognition of students, faculty, and staff representing 39 countries who often dress in their traditional attire. University President Todd Diacon and First Lady Moema traditionally lead off the parade with her native Brazilian flag as the other countries follow.
"The collaboration between Athletics and the Office of Global Education has produced a significant positive impact on campus and within the broader community," said Deputy Athletics Director & Senior Woman Administrator Suzette McQueen. "The event not only cultivates a sense of belonging but also contributes to increased engagement among international students, faculty, and staff."
Colorado, Fairfield, Kansas, and Virginia Tech were other schools that received honorable mention honors. The Atlantic Coast Conference, TCU, and Utah Valley are finalists.
