Flashes’ 2025 Season Comes to an End in Avon

AVON- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team's 2025 season came to an end Saturday evening at Mid-American Conference Tournament in Avon Ohio. The Flashes fell to the Miami RedHawks 1-6 in a winner's bracket game and then fell to the Toledo Rockets 2-6 in an elimination game.

Game One

Kent State would strike first in the top of the second against the RedHawks with a Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe double and then he would come in to score on a Ripken Reese RBI single to right.

Miami would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning with four runs of their own. The RedHawks would break the game open with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Kent State bullpen did their job keeping the score at six as Brody Krzysiak, Jaden Varner, Gannon Wentz, and Alex Alberico would pitch 4.2 combined innings of shutout baseball.

The Flashes bats would struggle to find their stride against the MAC Pitcher of the Year, Cooper Katskee, who pitched a complete game and limited Kent State to just the one run on five hits.

Game Two

Kent State's offensive struggles would carry over into the second game as the Flashes were held to just two runs on two hits.

Toledo would score first with a two-run single in the top of the second and extend the lead with a solo home run in the top of the third.

Hayden Jatczak would get the Flashes on the board with an opposite field solo shot in the bottom of the third.

The teams exchanged single tallies again the fifth with Kent State scoring on a Brody Williams bases loaded walk.

Toledo would break the game open and put it out of reach for the Flashes with a two-run blast in the eighth.

Evan Holewinski got the start on the mound for the Flashes and pitched a solid 4.2 innings allowing just three earned runs. Peyton Cariaco, Caden Leonard, and Benny Roebuck followed Holewinski out of the bullpen and pitched their final innings in a Golden Flashes uniform.
