COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Kent State women's golf team concluded the Columbus Regional with round three at OSU Golf Club on Wednesday, narrowly missing NCAA Championship qualification with a seventh-place finish. The Flashes posted an 8-over-par 296 in round three to conclude the tournament at 25-over-par.
The Flashes flirted with a top-five finish throughout round three, spending much of Wednesday occupying the fifth-place position that would have secured the final spot in the NCAA Championship. No. 10 LSU took control of this position down the stretch in round three, ultimately finishing seven strokes ahead of Kent State in fifth place and punching their ticket to nationals.
Kent State was led on Wednesday by Aryn Matthews, who also claimed the highest individual finish on the team across 54 holes. The freshman from Canada fired an even-par 72 in round three, recording three birdies to three bogeys en route to her fifth round of par or better this season. The Second Team All-MAC selection wraps up her debut collegiate season in impressive fashion, finishing tied for 14th in the Columbus regional after claiming a runner-up finish at the MAC Championship in April.
Leon Takagi wrapped up the week with her best round of the tournament. The junior and oldest golfer in the Kent State lineup posted a 2-over-par 74 in round three to climb up to a tie for 56th individually at 17-over-par. Takagi ends her season with a First Team All-MAC selection and her third appearance at an NCAA regional.
MAC Golfer of the Year Veronika Kedronova recorded Kent State's second-best 54-hole finish after carding a 3-over-par 75 on Wednesday. The sophomore tallied a joint team-high four birdies in round three to conclude the Columbus Regional at 8-over-par and tied for 29th place. Kedronova closes an impressive season in which she had two individual wins, five MAC Golfer of the Week distinctions, and a First Team All-MAC honor.
Isabella Goyette earned Kent State's final score countable toward the team total in round three, tallying a 3-over-par 75 and matching Kedronova's team-high four birdies. After a difficult second round in the rain on Tuesday, the freshman bounced back to climb up to 56th on the individual leaderboard, tied alongside Takagi. Goyette concludes a freshman season that saw her claim a runner-up finish at the MAC Championship and a First Team All-MAC selection.
Despite recording an 8-over-par 80 in round three, Gracie Larsen earned Kent State's third-best finish in the Columbus Regional at 9-over-par. The MAC Freshman of the Year concludes the tournament tied for 32nd. Larsen's opening collegiate season ends with a First Team All-MAC honor to pair with her specialty award, along with a runner-up finish at the MAC Championship alongside the freshman duo of Matthews and Goyette.
This marks the end of the 2024-25 season for the Golden Flashes, which saw the team claim a 26th consecutive MAC Championship and earn five all-conference selections.
