
Kent State’s Jake Casey Drafted to Toronto Blue Jays

KENT, Ohio –– Kent State baseball's Jake Casey has been drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 442nd pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, becoming the 116th draft pick in program history.
"We're incredibly proud of Jake and everything he's accomplished during his time at Kent State," said Head Baseball Coach Jeff Duncan. "He's a hard worker and a great teammate, and he has consistently elevated our program with his talent and dedication. Seeing him get the call from the Blue Jays is a special moment, and we know he's just getting started. Toronto's getting a great player and an even better person."
Casey earned All-MAC First Team honors after a fantastic season. In 2025, he posted a .356 batting average with 74 hits, 74 runs, 17 home runs, and 55 RBIs while appearing in all 56 games. Casey also added 20 doubles and 20 stolen bases.
Over his four-year career at Kent State, Casey compiled a .277 batting average with 149 hits, 155 runs, 41 home runs, 34 doubles, and 127 RBIs across 161 games.
