Athens, Ohio- The Kent State Soccer team returns to the road for the second straight Sunday as they head south to take on in-state foe Ohio. The first kick against the Bobcats will be at 1 P.M.
Last Time Out
The Kent State Soccer team fell narrowly on the road last Sunday in a close loss to conference leading Eastern Michigan by a score of 2-1.
The Flashes defense held tough for the first 40 minutes of the game, but the Eagles struck first at the end of the half as Annalyse Bauer scored a goal to bring the score to 1-0 into the halftime break.
EMU would score a second time in the 62-minute from Ella Miller but the Flashes would respond later in the half in the 85th-minute as Samantha Miller capitalized on a penalty kick for the second straight game to put the ball in the back of the net to keep the Flashes alive. However, the blue and gold were unable to connect again as they fell just short of drawing on the road.
On the stat sheet, it was an even match as both teams produced nine shots overall and four shots on goal. The Flashes also narrowly defeated the Eagles in the corner kick department by a tally of 5-4. KSU Senior goalkeeper Leah Shaffer once again played all 90 minutes in net for the Flashes as she was able to produce two saves on nine shots faced.Â
