
Hanselman’s PR Leads Flashes at Joe Piane Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Sophomore Michael Hanselman placed 18th in the men's 'gold' 8K race to lead the Kent State cross country teams in action at the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday.
Hanselman's personal-best time of 24:31.6 is the 10th fastest by a Golden Flash this decade. Sophomore Tanner Smith joined him in the top 100 with a time of 25:26.5 for 88th place.
Junior Alexis Tracy and senior Ella McCollom placed 22nd and 23rd, respectively, in the women's 'gold' 5K while setting new PRs for the distance. Tracy finished in 17:52.8, which is 54.0 seconds faster than her previous best time as a collegian, while McCollom was close behind in 17:54.1 to beat her season-opening time by nearly 90 seconds.
Junior Nora Salem also ran a personal-best 5K time of 18:34.8 and placed 77th.
Kent State will head to Bowling Green for the Falcon Invite on Friday, Oct. 16 to finish preparation for the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships.
