
Flashes score a season-high 196.000 in tough loss at Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Kent State gymnastics team posted its highest score of the season with a 196.000 but fell just short against Central Michigan (8-1, 3-0) on Friday night, finishing second at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas edged the Golden Flashes by 0.075 points with a 196.075.
Despite the loss, Kent State (6-6, 1-2) delivered its most complete performance of 2026, surpassing its previous season-high of 195.350 and breaking the 196-point barrier for the first time this year.
ROTATION 1 – BARS
The Golden Flashes opened strong with a season-best 49.150 on the uneven bars. Charlie Behner tied for first in the meet with a 9.875, matching CMU's Samantha Shannon. Nastia Rudnitskaya posted a 9.850 for third place, while Taylor Archambeau contributed a 9.825 for sixth. Sophia Balko and Heidi Schultz each added 9.800s, and Lana Mast rounded out the rotation with a 9.750.
ROTATION 2 – VAULT
Kent State continued its momentum on vault with another season-best 49.050. Taylor Archambeau tied for first in the event with a 9.875, while Charlie Behner finished third with a 9.850. Jersey Bingman scored a 9.800, and Sophia Balko tied for fifth with a 9.775. Avery Compson added a 9.750, and Mya Migliore contributed a 9.700 to complete the rotation.
ROTATION 3 – FLOOR
The Flashes posted a 48.900 on floor exercise. Heidi Schultz tied for second in the meet with a 9.875, just 0.025 behind CMU's Luciana Alvarado-Reid. Zoe Rankin added a 9.850 for fourth place, while Nastia Rudnitskaya scored a 9.775 for seventh. Jersey Bingman contributed a 9.750, and Dani Fuertez posted a 9.650. Charlie Behner finished the rotation with a 9.500.
ROTATION 4 – BEAM
Kent State closed the meet with a season-high 48.900 on balance beam. Heidi Schultz tied for second in the event with a 9.850, while Mya Migliore posted a 9.825 for fourth place. Dani Fuertez tied for fifth with a 9.800, and Gabby Riley added a 9.775 for seventh. Nene Alvine contributed a 9.650, and Zoe Rankin scored a 9.575 in the final rotation.
