
Kent State Men’s Golf Opens Spring Play at Hal Williams Intercollegiate

The Kent State Herb Page men's golf team is set to open spring play in Mobile, Alabama at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate. This will be the sixth time the Golden Flashes have competed in Mobile. In last year's 13-team field, Kent State finished as the tournament's runner-up, one stroke back of TCU, while Isaiah Ibit finished tied for third.

Notes:
- Isaiah Ibit continues to set the pace for Kent State, leading the Golden Flashes with a 71.27 scoring average this season. Ibit has already posted a pair of top-ten finishes this year, highlighted by a third-place result at the Canadian Collegiate, and owns the lowest round (64) and lowest 54-hole score (204) by a Golden Flash this season.
- James Newton brings veteran steadiness back into the five after producing one of the Golden Flashes' top individual performances of the year. Newton's season has been highlighted by a third-place finish at the Tontimonia Invitational, and he owns a 73.18 scoring average with multiple rounds at 69 this season.
- Nolan Haynes has continued his sophomore step forward, carrying a 73.21 scoring average into the spring opener. Haynes' best finish of the season is an 11th-place showing at the Blessings Collegiate, and he has proven capable of going low, including a season-best 67.
- Freshman Liam Curtis has shown flashes of high-end scoring in his debut season, highlighted by a 6-under 66 earlier this year. Curtis enters the week with a 75.29 scoring average and his season-best 20th-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate.
- Darcy Hogg returns to the lineup after gaining valuable reps in the fall, including a strong showing in Kent State's hosted Golden Flash Individual. Hogg carries a 74.00 scoring average on the season with his season-best 10th-place finish at the Golden Flash Invitational.
- Ramiro Acevedo will compete as an individual this week after an encouraging fall that included his season-best 11th-place finish at the Tontimonia Invitational. Acevedo has posted multiple rounds of par or better this season and owns a 75.36 scoring average.
- Christoffer Leuenhagen will also compete as an individual at Hal Williams. The freshman has produced his season-best 15th-place finish at the Pan-Pacific and will look to build on that experience as the spring slate gets underway.
