KENT, Ohio — Kent State sophomore Isaiah Ibit has been named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team for the second consecutive season, the league announced Friday. Teammate Liam Curtis was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team after a third-place finish at the conference championship at Holliday Farms.
Ibit, who earned First Team honors and was named MAC Freshman of the Year a season ago, backed up his breakout debut with another standout campaign for the Golden Flashes. He posted a 72.12 scoring average across 25 rounds in nine tournaments, with three top-10 finishes and 11 rounds at par or better.
His signature performance came at the Canadian Collegiate at Oviinbyrd Golf Club, where he opened with a 64 (-8) — his low round of the year — and added rounds of 70 and 70 to finish 204 (-12) and place third individually. He followed with a strong push at The Preserve, climbing into a tie for ninth on the strength of a final-round 66 at the Cal Poly Preserve, and added another top-10 with a ninth-place showing at the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League at Grand Fields Country Club.
Ibit also represented Kent State at the Hal Williams Memorial, the Hootie at Bulls Bay, the Muirfield Shootout, the Michael A. Marino Classic, the Blessings Collegiate, and the Robert Kepler Invitational.
Curtis, meanwhile, capped his season with a third-place individual finish at the MAC Championship to earn All-Tournament Team recognition. The sophomore fired rounds of 77-72-70 at Holliday Farms, closing with a 1-under 70 to climb the leaderboard and provide the Flashes with a second postseason honoree. As a team, Kent State finished fourth.
