Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes picked up a massive midweek doubleheader sweep of Youngstown State on Tuesday at Devine Diamond, taking both games by scores of 7-1 and 11-6 to move to 19-25 on the season. In the opener, Riley Miller was nothing short of brilliant, tossing a complete game and holding the Penguins to just one earned run on four hits across seven innings to earn her ninth win of the season. The offense supported her with Ashlyn Porter going 3-for-3, Brooke Aberle driving in two with a double, and Alex Trevena and Caleigh Shaulis each contributing RBIs as Kent State took the lead for good in the second inning and never looked back.
Game two was a slugfest that saw the Flashes rally from a 4-3 deficit with a four-run fourth frame capped by a Megan Claerhout three-RBI double. The game was blown open in the sixth with a four-spot highlighted by Gabby Quinn's two-run home run and two more RBIs from Ashlyn Porter, who finished the nightcap a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Riley Miller came on in relief to earn her tenth win of the year.
Scouting the Cardinals
The Ball State Cardinals enter this series with an overall record of 17-25 while holding a 4-17 record in the MAC. The Cardinals are led at the plate by Ella Whitney, who is hitting .341 with a team-high 11 home runs and 50 RBIs while also pulling double duty in the circle. The Ball State staff has surrendered 50 home runs on the season and is hitting .306 against as a unit.
