Golden Flashes Lead, Kedronova Records Lowest Opening Round at MAC Championship

AKRON, Ohio - The Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team posted their season low round, a 2-under 278 in Round 1 of the 2026 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship on Sunday at Firestone Country Club's Fazio Course, taking a three-stroke lead over Eastern Michigan as the Golden Flashes pursue their 27th consecutive conference title.
Junior Veronika Kedronová carded a 3-under 67 to share the individual lead with Bowling Green's Sammie Dolce. Per the MAC, Kedronová's 67 is the lowest opening round in MAC Women's Golf Championship history. Senior Leon Takagi sits T-3 at 2-under 68 alongside Eastern Michigan's Savannah de Bock. Sophomore Isabella Goyette opened with a 1-over 71 to sit T-10, capping her round with a birdie on the 18th hole.
Takagi's 68 was anchored by an eagle on the par-5 17th hole, one of two eagles on 17 by a Kent State golfer, the other by sophomore Petra Babicová.
Sophomore Gracie Larsen turned in a 2-over 72 to sit T-14 individually, while Babicová posted a 4-over 74 to round out the Kent State lineup at T-21.
Eastern Michigan sits second at 1-over 281 after Round 1, led by de Bock's 68 and an even-par 70 from senior Janae Leovao. Bowling Green is third at 4-over 284, with Dolce's 67 anchoring the Falcons.
Round 2 begins Monday with Kent State starting on the 1st at 9:50, with Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green in the trio.
