Kedronová's 7-under 203 sets new MAC Championship stroke record; Kent State's 9-under 831 also stands as lowest team stroke total in conference championship history
AKRON, Ohio - On a course that wouldn't give anything away, Veronika Kedronová took everything. The Kent State junior shot a 7-under 203 to win medalist honors by five strokes Tuesday at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships, leading the Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team to its 27th consecutive conference title at Firestone Country Club's Fazio Course.
The Golden Flashes finished at 9-under 831, 22 strokes clear of runner-up Eastern Michigan and the lowest 54-hole team stroke total in MAC Championship history, breaking the previous record of 853 set by the Golden Flashes in 2018. Relative to par, the team's 9-under finish stands as the second-best under-par performance in tournament history, trailing only the 11-under mark from that same 2018 squad. Kent State was the only team in the field to finish under par in any round of the tournament - and they did it in all three. The final round 5-under 275 also stands as the lowest single-round stroke score in MAC Championship history and the second-lowest relative-to-par score, only behind the first round at Naperville in 2018.
Kedronová's 203 likewise rewrites the MAC Championship record book for individual stroke total, eclipsing Pimnipa Panthong's 208 from 2018 by five shots. Her 7-under finish is the second-best score relative to par in tournament history, behind only Panthong's 8-under mark.
The medalist honor adds another layer to the program's depth at the top of the leaderboard. Kedronová is the 22nd medalist in Kent State history and the 21st tournament in which a Golden Flash has finished as MAC medalist, including shared honors. She is the 18th different Kent State golfer to claim the honor.
Firestone's Fazio Course played as advertised, and then some. The par-70 layout averaged 74.67 across 150 rounds over three days, with only one hole on the entire property finishing under par for the tournament. Kedronová averaged 67.67.
She opened with a 67 on Sunday, added a 69 on Monday, and closed with another 67 in Tuesday's final round - the kind of metronomic week that turns a championship into a coronation. She was the only player in the field to break par in all three rounds, and her scores were tied for the low round of the day in all three rounds of the tournament.
Behind her, Gracie Larsen authored the day's biggest mover for Kent State. The sophomore carded a 3-under 67 in the final round, matching Kedronová for the low round of the day, to climb three spots up the leaderboard and finish solo second at 2-under 208.
Leon Takagi finished tied for fourth at 1-over 211 after a steady three-round showing of 68-71-72, putting three Golden Flashes inside the top five and four inside the top 10. Petra Babicová and Isabella Goyette tied for ninth at 4-over 214, with Babicová posting rounds of 74-69-71 and Goyette closing with an even-par 70 to climb seven spots in the final round.
The Golden Flashes combined to play the final 18 in 3-under, navigating a Round 3 that played to 74.78 - the second-toughest round of the tournament - on a windy, links-style afternoon where 17 of 18 holes scored over par across the field.
Eastern Michigan finished a distant second at 13-over 853, with Bowling Green third at 22-over 862. Savannah de Bock of Eastern Michigan finished third individually at even-par 210, the only non-Kent State player in the top three.
The 27 consecutive titles extend a streak that now spans nearly three decades and stands as one of the longest active conference championship runs in college athletics.
Up next, the Golden Flashes await their NCAA Regional assignment. The selection show airs Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on Golf Channel.
