
Chilton and Schober Recognized with MAC Outdoor Women’s Track and Field Specialty Awards

CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its specialty awards for the 2026 outdoor track and field season on Thursday, with Kent State's Amryne Chilton named Women's Most Outstanding Track Performer and Michael Schober named Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Chilton earned two gold medals and totaled 21.5 points towards the Golden Flashes' team score at the 2026 MAC Outdoor Championships this past weekend. In addition to breaking the meet and program records in the 100-meter dash (11.37), the junior also improved her own school record in the 200-meter dash (23.04). Chilton also helped Kent State placed third in the 4x400-meter relay.
Schober earns the sixth Assistant Coach of the Year of his career as his group of athletes earned two golds and three silvers while totaling 94 points at the conference meet. Chilton and Ainhoa Reparaz Sanchez both beat the previous MAC meet record in the 100m while recording the two fastest times in school history. Gabrielle Hammonds (100m hurdles) and Marinna Atanmo (400m hurdles) clocked top four times in Flashes history while earning silver.
