Flashes Head To Pittsburgh To Face Duquesne

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania- The Kent State Soccer team will return to the road on Sunday when they head to the Steel City to take on the Duquesne Dukes of the Atlantic 10 on Sunday for a 1 P.M. kick.
Last Time Out
The Kent State Soccer team welcomed in their toughest test of the season on Sunday afternoon when the No. 12 Kansas Jayhawks of the Big 12 came to town for a non-conference matchup.Â
The Flashes defense came to play in the first 75 minutes of the game, holding KU to no goals. Kansas then scored three goals in a five-minute span and KSU scored in the final three minutes to bring the final score to 3-1 in favor of the Jayhawks.
In that five-minute span, Jillian Gregorski put two in the back of the net in less than two minutes of play with assists from Livvy Moore and Caroline Castans. Castans then put the ball in the back of the net herself three minutes later to put KU up 3-0.
However, Kent State would not go away lightly as Samantha Miller put up the only two shots on target for the Flashes in the game in a one-minute span and capitalized on the second to bring the score to 3-1 where it would remain as the final.
The Jayhawks were able to put up 17 shots with 11 of them coming in the second half, while nine of those 17 shots were on target. Kansas also controlled corner kicks as they led that tally 14-0. Junior Emma Klein was strong in goal all game as she managed to save six shots with three in each half.Â
Scouting Duquesne
The Dukes have started the 2026 campaign with a 2-2 record so far including a win over Cleveland State 3-0, which was the same score the Flashes beat them by in their season-opener. Duquesne has also played two Mid-American Conference opponents this season with a 3-1 loss to Eastern Michigan and a 2-0 win over Akron on Thursday.
Last season the Dukes finished with a record of 12-5-2(7-3 A-10) and a trip to the Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals. Kaitlyn Killinger is the lone returning top-five goal scorer for the Dukes that has also found the back of the net this season with one goal.
This season the Dukes are led by Brynn Ramsey who has four points off of one goal and two assists. Also scoring goals this season are Allison Bechtel, Zoe Fries, Kylie Johnson and Jayden Sharpless.
Ali Hughes will start in goal against the Flashes for the Dukes as she has recorded 21 saves so far this season in four starts. She has also allowed just five goals in all 360 minutes played.
Series History
Sunday's meeting will mark the seventh all-time meeting between the two schools as the series is currently tied at an even 3-3. This will be the fourth consecutive year the Dukes and Flashes will face-off as Duquesne has won the last two with Kent State winning the matchup in 2023 by a score of 2-1.

After a trip to Pittsburgh, the Golden Flashes will return back to Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium for their final two home non-conference games of the 2026 season. On Thursday they will take on Oakland at 6 P.M. and Sunday they will face Cornell of the Ivy League for Senior Day.
