Golden Flashes Drop MAC Opener to Zips

KENT, Ohio – Kent State lost to rival Akron, 3-0 (12-25, 13-25, 22-25) in the Mid-American Conference volleyball opener at the M.A.C. Center on Wednesday evening.
Senior Christina Vigil posted her third consecutive double-double with 20 assists and team-high 10 digs.
The Golden Flashes (6-6, 0-1 MAC) were led offensively by redshirt junior Adalynn Ginley and redshirt senior Liliana Mechura. Ginley had six kills while hitting .333, while Mechura recorded five kills and a .455 hitting percentage.
Kent State will return to action on Friday with a road contest against Buffalo scheduled for 6 p.m.
