2009 Freshman Season
Appeared in 52 games for the Flashes at various positions, starting 31…tallied 45 hits for a .331 average…hit seven home runs on the season, the first coming against Duquesne…hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to lift Kent State to a 13-9 win during the Flashes victory over Northern Illinois (4/5)…saw a season-best game against Toledo in the MAC Tournament (5/23) with two hits in four at-bats, driving in what proved to be the game-winning RBI with a home run in the first…against Cal Poly in the NCAA Tournament (5/30), smashed a two-run home run to right field that helped KSU defeat the Mustangs 10-9…played for the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League champions, the Cincinnati Steam…in the Steam’s 4-2 win in the championship game, Shaw tallied a RBI on a bases loaded walk…finished with a .247 average and 23 hits (five of which were round-trippers).
Prior to Kent State
Played at first base for Washington Courthouse…helped team to win three South Central Ohio League baseball titles while also leading them to sectional and district championships in the Ohio High School baseball state tournament…was named a first team All-SCOL, first team All-District and a first team All-Ohio honoree his junior and senior years…named to the Mizuno All-Ohio team…was a two-time Team Ohio representative…hit .560 his senior year with 52 RBI, 14 doubles and nine home runs…batted .544 (43-for-79 from the plate) his junior season with four home runs and 25 RBI…was coached by Rob Smith…also lettered in basketball, football and golf while at Washington…drafted in the 32nd round by the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball’s first year player’s draft in June of 2008.

Born April 16, 1990…parents are Jeff and Julie Shaw…has a brother and sister, Molli and Griffin…father played professional baseball from 1986-2001 and was a right-handed pitcher with the Cleveland Indians, Montreal Expos, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds…was a member of the Academy of Scholars five of six years…also volunteered as an assistant coach for third, fourth and fifth grade basketball…majoring in sports administration.
