2007-08: For the second straight season, received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships...finished with a 34-11 record and a 4-1 Mid-American Conference dual record...led the team in wins for the season...took runner-up honors at the Body Bar Tournament where he avenged a 2007 NCAA Tournament loss to Wisconsin’s Kyle Massey with a 4-3 nod in the semis...put together a 12-match winning streak from Jan. 8-Feb.22 which featured wins over John Wise (ILL), Trey McLean (PEN), Totusek (ODU)and Zach Sheaffer (PIT) - all NCAA qualifiers...named MAC Wrestler of the Week Feb. 4...placed second at the MAC Championships after 4-1 setback to Central Michigan’s Bubba Gritter...was KSU’s highest-ranked wrestler much of the season.
2006-07: Earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament by placing second at the MAC Championships, receiving a wild card... also placed second at the Body Bar Invitational and was the lone Flash to place at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational with a 5-2 record, good for a seventh place finish...compiled a record of 23-12 which included five pins, three major decisions, and two technical falls...posted a dual meet record of 12-4 and 4-1 in MAC duals...received MAC Wrestler of the Week honors one time during the year.
2005-06: Earned MAC Freshman of the Year honors by placing second at MAC Championships...posted a 20-10 record...named to Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie First Team...finished fifth at Oklahoma Gold Showcase and sixth at Body Bar Invitational.
2004-05: Was redshirted...posted an 11-6 record with five falls wrestling unattached in open events... placed third at the Edinboro Open and fourth at the Kent State Open.
Prior to Kent State: Posted a 94-18 career record at Firestone High School...was state runner-up, district, sectional and city champion as a senior...three-time all-city selection...earned All-Beacon Journal and All-Summit County honors as a senior.
Personal: Born May 24, 1986...son of Cornelius and Terri Porter...majoring in criminal justice.
