2009 Sophomore Season
Finished the season with a 4-2 record with three saves in 24 appearances and a 5.40 ERA out of the bullpen for the Golden Flashes…picked up the win against nationally-ranked Cal Poly in the NCAA Tournament (5/30), throwing 2.1 scoreless innings in the 10-9 win…threw 3.2 scoreless innings for the save in the second game of the Miami series (5/15) to help Kent State clinch the fourth seed of the MAC Tournament…recorded the win in the semifinal game against Miami (5/22) in the MAC tournament…in summer league action, played with teammate Kyle Hallock for the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plains League…went 1-0 in 15 appearances (four starts) with 20 strikeouts in 31.1 innings pitched (2.87 ERA).
2008 Freshman Season
Made 21 relief appearances and one start in his freshman campaign…finished the season 5-0 with one save and a 2.87 ERA in 37.2 innings of work…struck out at least three batters on five different occasions…was one of only two Kent State pitchers to not surrender a home run…in his first career start, scattered four hits over five innings while striking out three batters and giving up just one run for a win vs. Marshall (4/22)…tossed three innings of scoreless baseball vs. Buffalo (5/3) to pick up his first save…in the second game of the MAC Tournament (5/22) with Northern Illinois threatening, he came on in relief and preserved a one run KSU lead by recording a strikeout and a ground out.
High School
Was first team All-Northeastern Buckeye Conference his final three years of high school at Canton South…the Wildcats finished first or second in District in all four years he was on the team, including a 21-6 mark his senior year…was NBC Pitcher of the Year as a senior…graduated as the all-time winningest pitcher in Canton South history…lettered four times in baseball and three times in basketball for the Wildcats…played with the Stark County Junior Terriers.
Personal
Born on Jan. 1, 1989…son of Roy and Janet Gill…volunteered at several camps and earned a Good Citizens Award while in high school…majoring in physical education.
