With a year under his belt on the defensive side of the ball, Chris Gilbert heads into spring practice as the starter at one of the corner spots.
2009 Sophomore Season
Saw action in eight games, mostly on special teams…made a pair of tackles.
2008 Freshman Season
Appeared in nine games as a backup wide receiver and on special teams…grabbed first career reception on Oct. 11 against Ohio for 17 yards…was hampered by hamstring issues late in the season…one of only eight true freshmen to earn a varsity letter.
Prior To Kent State
First three-time all-conference selection at Hopewell High School…was named Lake Norman Player of the Year as a senior after becoming the first player to rush (1,161 yards, 14 TDs) and pass (1,014 yards, 11 TDs) for over 1,000 yards in the same season…also returned three kickoffs for scores en route to being named all-state as a kick returner…led team to a 10-2 mark in 2007…coached by Chris Rust…was also a four-year letterwinner on the track team…holds the school record in the 100 (10.43) and 200 (21.38) meter dash.
