Phillips joined Coach Kenni Burns' staff in February 2024 as Director of Player Personnel.
Phillips comes to Kent State from Westminster College in Pennsylvania where he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Helped lead Westminster to 6-4 season and all-conference recognition for the sophomore quarterback.
This isn't Phillips' first foray into the Mid-American Conference as he was the assistant quarterbacks coach and quality control coach at Toledo, where he worked directly with the Rockets' DeQuan Finn, helping him reach all-conference accolades.
He also worked with the college all-star Hula Bowl as quarterbacks coach and Assistant Director of Scouting. There he complied a database of prospective prospects and oversaw a team of scouting interns and coordinators.
