Kent State head football coach Kenni Burns named Spencer Rymiszewski as the team’s new corner backs coach in February 2024
Rymiszewski joins the Kent GRIT family from Wisconsin where he served as a defensive and special teams analyst in 2023. Prior to his season in Madison, Rymiszewski, spent two seasons coaching defensive backs with the New York Giants. Rymiszewski worked with Darnay Holmes, Xavier McKinney, Logan Ryan and Jabrill Peppers, amongst others.
Rymiszewski time in Wisconsin was a reunion with Luke Fickell, as he started his career as a graduate assistant at Cincinnati, working with defensive backs. In 2020, he was part of a staff that led the Bearcats to a 9-1 record and a New Year’s Six Peach Bowl berth. During that season, he worked with Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, who went on to become a first-round draft pick and Coby Bryant, who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks.
A Yale graduate, Rymiszewski was a four-year starter at corner back for the Bulldogs. He was a two-time All-Ivy League First Team member and served as captain in 2017. That season, he helped Yale capture its first outright Ivy League title in 37 years.
