2009 Junior Season
Garnered first team All-MAC accolades after leading the Flashes with 108 tackles…was seventh in the MAC and tied for 34th nationally with 9.9 tackles per game…led the team in six of 12 games this season, posting six double-digit efforts…his career-high 18 stops Oct. 10 against Bowling Green tied for ninth-most in the country…earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording 12 tackles in the season-opener Sept. 3 against Coastal Carolina…posted 11 stops, 2.0 tackles for loss and a sack at Eastern Michigan Oct. 17…had 10 tackles, a TFL and a fumble recovery in the season finale Nov. 27 against Buffalo.
2008 Sophomore Season
Made presence felt in first season at Kent State, ranking third on team with 73 tackles (37 solo)…posted five TFL and two sacks…ranked for 20th in the MAC with 7.3 tackles per game…started eight of 10 games he played in at linebacker…missed just two games after suffering a broken foot Sept. 27 at Ball State…had a big outing at Louisiana-Lafayette Sept. 20 with 13 tackles, including 10 solo stops, and forced a fumble…recorded 11 stops on Sept. 13 against Delaware State…tallied eight tackles on Aug. 30 vs. Boston College, at Iowa State Sept. 6 and at Bowling Green Nov. 1…made seven tackles and a sack at Ball State Sept. 27…posted seven tackles at Buffalo Nov. 28, four of them solo.

Redshirted at Michigan in 2006…four-star prospect and the No. 8 inside linebacker nationally according to Rivals.com…listed as the ninth-best prospect in the state of Ohio by Rivals.com…rated as No. 73 overall player nationally by Prep Football Report…four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 30 linebacker according to Scout.com…ranked the No. 18 linebacker in the nation by PrepStar Magazine…No. 18 on the Detroit Free Press Best of the Midwest rankings…helped lead Colerain High School to the Division I state playoffs as a senior after playing through an ACL injury his junior season as an integral part of the school’s state championship team…first team All-Ohio performer in Division I as a senior, Mixon was also a three-time all-city, and all-conference selection and two-time All-Southwest Ohio honoree…recorded 135 tackles as a senior, adding two interceptions and a defensive touchdown…as a junior, he notched 100 stops, including 12 tackles for loss and six sacks — despite missing three weeks with a knee injury…was coached by Kerry Coombs…played at Colerain with current teammate Brian Lainhart…also played basketball during freshman and sophomore years.
