After starting every game last season, Dan Hartman returns as the top option at strong safety. 2009 Junior Season Recorded career-highs with 72 tackles (48 solo), 6.0 tackles for loss and four interceptions…tied for fifth in the MAC with four picks and ranked third with 13 passes defended…had an interception and a forced fumble against Miami Sept. 26…posted nine tackles and a pick Oct. 17 at Eastern Michigan…season-high 10 tackles and an interception versus Buffalo Nov. 27…started all 12 games, making at least five stops in eight of those contests. 2008 Sophomore Season Piled up career-high 42 tackles (21 solo)…started seven of the 11 games he played in at defensive back…posted six tackles on Oct. 11 against Ohio…accumulated a career-high 11 tackles at Bowling Green Nov. 1…recorded seven stops at Buffalo Nov. 28, including one TFL and one pass breakup. 2007 Redshirt Freshman Season Appeared in 11 games as a defensive back, making three starts during the middle part of the season…registered 35 tackles, 17 solo, including a season-high seven stops against Delaware State on Sept. 15 and at Ohio State Oct. 13 (six solo). 2006 Freshman Season Redshirted. Prior to Kent State Four-year letter winner at defensive back, linebacker and receiver at LaBrae High School…as both a junior and a senior, earned first-team All-TAC 8 and All-Northeast Ohio honors and was named to the All-Ohio Second Team…also earned team’s offensive most valuable player award three straight years…was a first-team All-TAC 8 and All-Trumbull County pick as a sophomore…named team’s best defensive back as a sophomore…team captain as a senior, also nominated for Trumbull County Coaches Association Player of the Year award…was a three-year letter winner and 1,000-point scorer in basketball…received all-county, conference and district honors in basketball as a sophomore…was coached by Bill Bohren.
