An experienced veteran, Phil Garner will battle for playing time at wide receiver...has tremendous natural ability, but needs to work on his consistency...staff is looking for him to step up in his final season.
2008 Junior Season
Ranked third on team with 192 receiving yards on 17 grabs...averaged 11.3 yards per catch and 19.7 all-purpose yards per game...started nine of 12 games at wide receiver...caught season-high four passes at Louisiana-Lafayette Sept. 20...racked up 72 receiving yards on four catches on Nov. 12 against Temple.
2007 Sophomore Season
Started all 12 games at wide receiver, one of only three offensive players to accomplish the feat...led the team in receptions, catching 27 passes for 284 yards, an average of 10.5 yards per catch...earned the team's Most Improved Award on offense...scored his first career touchdown with a 23-yard grab against Central Michigan on Oct. 27...recorded seven catches for 89 yards that day, both career highs...his seven catches was tied for the most receptions in a game by a KSU player...had one rush for four yards against Iowa State Aug. 30...recorded a 32-yard catch against Buffalo Nov. 24, the longest of his career...his 288 all-purpose yards were seventh on the team.
2006 Freshman Season
Appeared in nine games for Kent State at wideout...got the starting nod in the season finale versus Ball State... caught six passes for a total of 65 yards including a long of 21...one of eight true freshmen to earn a varsity letter.

Earned All-Broward County honors as a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla...position coach was former NFL great Cris Carter...team finished ranked 10th in USA Today Super 25 national rankings...Raiders posted a 25-3 mark his last two years, including a Class 5A championship in 2004 and a runner-up finish in 2005...lettered in both football and track and field...was coached by George Smith.

Born Dec. 13, 1987...parents are Dwight and Vida Garner...father, Dwight, carried the ball for five yards during "The Play" at the end of 1982 Cal-Stanford game and went on to play for the NFL's Washington Redskins...majoring in communication.
