Quinton Rainey turned in his best season at KSU, and he now sits atop the depth chart at nose tackle heading into his senior season.
2009 Junior Season
Started 10 of the 12 games last season on the defensive line…made 29 tackles including 21 solo stops and two sacks…finished second on the team with 11 tackles for loss for 29 yards…had a career-high five tackles versus Miami Sept. 26…returned a blocked field goal 82 yards against Bowling Green to score his first career touchdown…had four solo stops against Eastern Michigan Oct. 17 and Akron Nov. 7…had two quarterback hurries.
2008 Sophomore Season
Played in all 12 games as a backup defensive lineman…recorded five tackles and 1.0 TFL…late fumble recovery Nov. 12 against Temple sealed 41-38 victory.
2007 Redshirt Freshman Season
Appeared in all 12 games from his defensive line position…recorded eight tackles, four solo, along with 2.5 TFL for 17 yards…had 1.5 sacks for seven yards…recorded a TFL for 10 yards against Central Michigan on Oct. 27.
2006 Freshman Season
Redshirted…shared team’s Defensive Scout Award with Tim Flores.
Prior to Kent State
Two-time All-Tidewater Conference and all-district selection at linebacker for Landstown High School…posted over 120 tackles as a junior and as a senior…recorded 100 stops, including four sacks for Eagles in 2005, helping team reach the state championship game…also rushed for 800 yards and eight touchdowns…squad also claimed regional and district titles…had 105 tackles and seven sacks as a junior while rushing for 467 yards and seven TDs…played first two seasons at Tallwood High School, posting 153 tackles, two sacks and a pair of interceptions while rushing for eight touchdowns there…totaled 358 tackles in his high school career with 17 sacks, four interceptions and over 1,000 yards and 23 TDs rushing…was coached by Chris Beatty at Landstown…also lettered in track and field and wrestling.
