Spencer Keith had a freshman season to remember before injuring his shoulder in the next-to-last game of the season and should benefit greatly from spring practice.
2009 Freshman Season
Set school freshman records with 2,147 yards and 14 touchdowns, both of which stand fifth in school annals…the 14 TDs also rank ninth in Kent State career records…57.1 completion percentage (168-294) is second in season records, while his 126.72 pass efficiency ranks fourth…compiled those numbers despite starting just seven times in 10 appearances…inserted into the line-up in week two after Giorgio Morgan went out with a sprained ankle…threw for 200+ yards on seven occasions, including a pair of 300-yard efforts…threw for 373 (6th in school annals) yards Oct. 31 against Western Michigan and 377 yards (5th) the following week at Akron…those were the first back-to-back 300-yard efforts since 2004 and the largest two-game total since 1997…had four consecutive multi-TD games (Oct. 17-Nov. 7) and five on the year.
Prior To Kent State
Last fall as a senior at Pulaski Academy, set state season records for passing yards (5,310, which also led the country), attempts (625) and completions (396) en route to leading the Bruins to a 13-1 record and the 5A state title…tossed 70 touchdown passes…earned MVP honors in the championship game…also rushed for 296 yards and seven more scores playing for head coach Kevin Kelley…recipient of the Lander’s Award as the Arkansas Player of the Year (voted on by the media)…garnered Offensive Player of the Year accolades from the Arkansas Democrat and ArkansasSports360.com…a two-time all-state, all-conference and all-metro selection, he threw for 4,768 yards and 51 touchdowns as a junior, totaling 10,076 yards and 121 touchdowns his final two seasons…also lettered in basketball and track, averaging 18.5 points a game as a junior on the hardwood while finishing seventh in the state in the 300-meter hurdles his sophomore year…coached by Kevin Kelley.

Born Sept. 25, 1990…son of Steve and Rhonda Keith…has two older brothers, Michael and Joshua…member of the National Honor Society…majoring in biology with a focus in pre-med.
