Adkins was hired prior to the 2023 season as an assistant coach. Adkins was the head coach at Southwest Baptist University, a Division II institution located in Bolivar, Missouri, in 2022.
Under Adkins' leadership this past spring, the Bearcats enjoyed their winningest season since 2018 and were also named a recipient of the Team Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Award.
Adkins has familiarity with MACÂ softball, as she was an assistant coach at Bowling Green in 2020 and 2021. The 2021 season was one of the best in BGSU's recent history and saw breakout seasons from multiple Falcons.
Her coaching career began at the University of Illinois, where Adkins was a graduate assistant during the 2019 season. This came after a four-year playing career with the Illini, where Adkins also excelled. She played stellar outfield defense while also boasting huge offensive output. She was a two-time All-Big Ten First Team selection, as well as making the All-Big Ten Second Team once and the All-Big Ten Defensive Team three times.Â
Adkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health with concentrations in health administration and education from Illinois in Dec. 2017 and added a Master of Science in health administration in Dec. 2019.
