Cadence Pierce (she/her/they/them), Cadie for short, joined the Kent State Communications team in January 2026 as the communications coordinator for Men’s and Women’s Golf, after previously working as a student employee from August 2022–May 2024 and during the fall 2025 season. In addition to golf, Pierce contributes across the department as a statistician for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, official scorer and substitute public address announcer for Men’s Wrestling, and press box staff for Women’s Field Hockey, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Lacrosse.
Between stints at Kent State, Pierce served as Graduate Assistant Director of Communications at Wilmington College (NCAA Division III), acting as the primary media contact for six sports and assisting with several others, while also overseeing the technical operations of athletic livestream broadcasts.
While an undergrad at Kent State, Pierce served as a staff photographer for The Kent Stater, in addition to her responsibilities in Athletic Communications. Among the events she photographed for the Stater include the 2024 Mid-American Conference Basketball Championships, and the Final Day of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Women’s Golf Championships, when the Kent State Women won their 25th straight championship.
Pierce has served the Ravenna School District since 2012, first in district technology support and since 2015 as a core member of Ravenna High School’s athletic event and media staff. Over nearly a decade, Pierce has supported game-day operations in roles ranging from scoreboard operator and statistician to site manager and event director, while modernizing systems, expanding web and social media presence, and launching the district’s sports live streaming program. Working within a Title I community, Pierce is known for delivering high-quality experiences with limited resources, including for large-scale events such as the Ravenna ESPYs.
Prior to her work in athletics, Pierce spent several years in professional theatre as a stage manager, graphic and print designer, projections designer, scenic artist, and technology director with Opera Western Reserve and at Youngstown State University. A lifelong sports fan and early statistician, Pierce has remained deeply involved in sports information from a young age.
Pierce is an active member of College Sports Communicators, serving on a committee, participating in multiple member affinity groups, and earning both a 2025 Convention Grant and selection to the 2026 Fellowship cohort, the second Mid-American Conference Athletic Communications professional to do so, while employed at a Mid-American Conference Institution (Linnea Kangas - Northern Illinois 2025) and the third current MAC Athletic Comm professional (Kangas, Liz Holbrook - Western Michigan 2024, while at University of Evansville). A 2024 graduate of Kent State University, Pierce holds a degree in Integrated Studies and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Emerging Media and Technology, focusing on public relations, strategic communication, and sports administration. She resides in Mogadore, Ohio, where she graduated from Mogadore High School in 2003.
